Jaime Burnes Joins Cowen’s Healthcare Investment Banking Group as Managing Director

NEW YORK, Nov 02, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) —

Cowen Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: COWN) announced today that Jaime Burnes has
joined the firm as a Managing Director in Healthcare Investment Banking.
Based in Cowen’s San Francisco office, Mr. Burnes will focus on
biotechnology and life sciences companies.

Mr. Burnes joins Cowen from Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. where he was a
Managing Director in the healthcare group. At Oppenheimer, Mr. Burnes
helped build the firm’s life sciences practice. Prior to Oppenheimer,
Mr. Burnes was a senior coverage officer at Credit Suisse and held
similar roles at Lehman Brothers and UBS. Mr. Burnes started his carrier
at Furman Selz. Over the course of Jaime’s 15 year investment banking
career, he has been instrumental in providing strategic capital raising
and other advice to over 100 life sciences companies, including initial
public offerings, public and private follow-on offerings, mergers and
acquisitions.
