Veteran Analyst Paul Silverstein Joins Cowen Research Group

Silverstein to Cover Data Networking & Wireline Equipment

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 2, 2013–
Cowen Group, Inc. (“Cowen”) (NASDAQ: COWN) today announced that Paul
Silverstein
has joined the firm’s Equity Research department as a
Managing Director to cover Data Networking and Wireline Equipment. Mr.
Silverstein, based in New York, reports to Robert Fagin, Cowen’s
Director of Research.

an expert within the networking and communications infrastructure

Most recently, Mr. Silverstein was a Director at Credit Suisse’s equity
research department, covering the communications infrastructure industry
since May 2004. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, he was a senior analyst
in equity research at Robertson Stephens from 1996 to 2002 and at
Needham & Co. from 2003 to 2004. Prior to becoming a securities analyst,
Mr. Silverstein practiced corporate and securities law as an associate
at Weil Gotshal & Manges from 1989 to 1992 and at Pryor Cashman Sherman
& Flynn from 1992 to 1994. He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business
School
, a J.D. from Cornell Law School and a B.A. from the University of
Pennsylvania
