Cowen Group Announces John Blackledge Joins Research Group

Blackledge Named Director and Senior Research Analyst Covering
Internet & New Media Companies

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 6, 2012–
Cowen Group, Inc. (“Cowen”) (NASDAQ: COWN) today announced that John
Blackledge
has joined the firm’s Research department as a Director and
Senior Research
Analyst to cover stocks in the Internet & New Media
sector. Based in New York, Mr. Blackledge will work in close conjunction
with Internet research analyst Kevin Kopelman and will report to Robert
Fagin
, Cowen’s Director of Research.

Mr. Blackledge most recently served as a Vice President in the Internet
Equity research group at Credit Suisse. Prior to Credit Suisse, Mr.
Blackledge was a Vice President at JPMorgan, where he focused on the
Entertainment, Cable/DBS, and Radio Broadcasting sectors before assuming
research coverage of Radio, TV, and Outdoor stocks. Earlier in his
career, he held positions at Amro/ING Barings, CIBC Oppenheimer, and
Arthur Andersen. Mr. Blackledge received a B.S. in Accounting from
Georgetown University.
