Lance Vitanza, CFA

Lance Vitanza is a cross-capital structure analyst focused on the TMT sector. Mr. Vitanza joined Cowen in 2016 as part of the acquisition of certain businesses from CRT.  He joined CRT in 2010 as a senior research analyst covering the media & telecommunications industries. He was previously a principal and senior analyst at Knighthead Capital Management, a $3 billion credit-distressed hedge fund he helped launch in June 2008. Prior to his two years at Knighthead, Mr. Vitanza spent five years as a senior analyst on the distressed / special situations desk at Concordia Advisors, a global, multi-strategy hedge fund headquartered in New York City.

Prior to working on the buy side, he spent five years as a leveraged finance banker, including positions as an associate at BT Alex. Brown and as a vice president at Goldman Sachs. Mr. Vitanza began his career working for Dr. Arthur B. Laffer at his San Diego-based economic research and consulting boutique. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in economics from the University of Southern California.
