Justin C. Matthews

Justin Matthews is a Managing Director and an Associate Director in Equity Research. He has over 20 years of Retail and Financial Services experience, working primarily in Equities. He joined Cowen in 2019 from Wells Fargo Securities, where he worked in both Equity Research and Equity Research Sales. Prior to joining Wells, Justin worked in Research roles at Nomura and UBS. Justin began his career in the fashion industry, working as a buyer at Abercrombie & Fitch and Saks Fifth Avenue, before joining Standard & Poors’ Vista Research (now d/b/a Guidepoint Global) as Associate Director of Retail and Hospitality Research.

At Cowen, Justin leads strategic efforts around staffing, training, and development of Equity Research Associates and VPs. He is a founding member of the Cowen Black Network, serving on the Steering Committee and as Co-Chair of the Recruitment Subcommittee.

Justin earned his MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business (’11) and his B.A. from Cornell University (’00) in Industrial and Labor Relations.
