David M.V. Barnes Joins Cowen’s Financial Sponsor Coverage Team

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jun. 22, 2017–
Cowen Inc. (NASDAQ:COWN) (“Cowen” or the “Company”) today announced that David M.V. Barnes has joined Cowen’s Investment Banking Team as a
Managing Director in the Financial Sponsor Coverage Group. Mr. Barnes is
based in Cowen’s San Francisco office and is responsible for developing
and maintaining long-term relationships with middle market and mid-cap
private equity firms. Mr. Barnes comes to Cowen with a deep
understanding of the private equity community and vast industry-specific
knowledge that will further enhance Cowen’s comprehensive debt, equity
capital market and mergers and acquisitions expertise.

Prior to joining Cowen, Mr. Barnes was a Managing Director at Houlihan
Lokey
, where he was the architect and co-founder of the Financial
Sponsor and Hedge Fund Coverage groups. Mr. Barnes has over 25 years of
investment banking experience, which includes Vice President in charge
of Mergers & Acquisitions at Protection One, Senior Manager at Coopers &
Lybrand Securities
, as well as principal investing experience associate
at Brentwood Associates and Hancock Park Associates. Mr. Barnes began
his finance career with Morgan Stanley. Mr. Barnes graduated with honors
from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology
and received his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from UCLA.
