Cowen’s Investment Banking Group Announces Technology Veteran as Strategic Advisor

Joseph Bronson Will Leverage 30 Years of Industry Leadership to
Expand Cowen’s Technology Practice

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 26, 2014–
Cowen Group, Inc. (“Cowen”) (NASDAQ:COWN) today announced the
appointment of technology veteran, Joseph Bronson, as Strategic Advisor
to Cowen and Company’s investment banking division. In this role, Mr.
Bronson will work closely with Cowen’s investment banking team to
broaden client relationships and provide senior level advice to the firm
and clients.

Mr. Bronson joins Cowen following more than 30 years of operational and
advisory experience in the technology industry. He has held senior
management roles at some of the largest publicly-traded semiconductor
corporations, including Applied Materials, a top supplier of equipment
to the global semiconductor industry, and Sanmina, a global electronic
manufacturing services provider. His distinguished career also includes
senior management and board positions with several other public and
privately-held companies within the technology, materials and
engineering industries as well as advisory roles with numerous
technology companies on matters related to finance and operations.

Mr. Bronson is a founding principal of The Bronson Group, LLC, a
business consulting firm that provides financial and operational advice.
From 2009-2010, Mr. Bronson was Chief Executive Officer of Silicon
Valley Technology Corporation
, a private company that provides technical
services to the semiconductor and solar industries.

Mr. Bronson served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Sanmina
from 2007-2008. From 2004 through 2007, Mr. Bronson was President and
Co-Chief Executive Officer of FormFactor, Inc., a manufacturer of
advanced semiconductor wafer probe cards. Previously, Mr. Bronson was
with Applied Materials for 21 years. He served as Chief Financial
Officer for six years of those years after holding a variety of senior
level operations management roles.

Mr. Bronson currently sits on the board of directors of Maxim
Integrated, Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., SDC Materials, and Ryan Herco Flow Solutions. Previous board memberships include Sanmina and Advanced
Energy Industries

Mr. Bronson holds a BS in Accounting from Fairfield University and an
MBA in Financial Management from The University of Connecticut School of
