Cowen Expands Technology Investment Banking Team

Peter Gant Joins as Managing Director

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sep. 3, 2014–
Cowen Group, Inc. (“Cowen”) (NASDAQ:COWN) today announced that Peter
Gant has joined the firm as Managing Director, Head of Software
Investment Banking. Based in San Francisco, Mr. Gant reports to Chris
McCabe, Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications Investment
Banking.

brings more than 20 years of experience in providing clients with

Mr. Gant joins Cowen from Signal Hill Capital Group where he was a
Managing Director focused on the security, infrastructure and enterprise
application software sectors. Previously, Mr. Gant spent 14 years with
RBC Capital Markets in technology investment banking, most recently as
head of the software M&A team. Mr. Gant began his career as an engineer.
He received a B.S. and Masters in Engineering from Cornell University
and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
