Cowen Appoints Craig E. Zaph as New Head of Debt Capital Markets

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sep. 20, 2016–
Cowen Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:COWN) (“Cowen” or the “Company”) today
announced that Craig E. Zaph has joined Cowen and Company’s investment
banking team as the Head of Debt Capital Markets. Mr. Zaph is based in
New York and reports to Kevin Raidy, Head of Investment Banking.

recent months and brings momentum to Cowen’s debt capital markets (DCM)

will further this effort. Craig has a significant amount of experience
in originating and structuring debt products, such as high yield bonds

recapitalizations. In addition, he has an impressive number of
relationships in Cowen’s focus sectors, including consumer, industrials,
technology, media and telecom (TMT), health care, energy and
transportation.”

Mr. Zaph joins Cowen from Jefferies. During his over 18 year tenure, he
served in a variety of roles within investment banking. Most recently,
he spent 6 years as the Managing Director and Head of Energy & Shipping
Leveraged Finance. Prior to that, Mr. Zaph was the Head of Origination.
He began his career as an investment banking associate at the firm. Mr.
Zaph holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British
Columbia
and an IMBA from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of
Business
