Cowen is currently seeking experienced Analyst candidates for the Strategic Capital team, located in New York. Strategic Capital is a relationship-based coverage group responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with private equity firms, family offices, growth equity, and other private capital sources, and partnering with industry and product teams internally in originating and executing on sponsor-backed opportunities.

Successful candidates will play a key role in building out a growing team at Cowen, with the opportunity to work across industry verticals and products, as well as gain experience interfacing with senior clients externally. Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting senior calling officers in sourcing transactions from private equity client universe by conducting deep industry and sponsor specific research and targeting
  • Working with industry teams on pitch work and live deal requests
  • Supporting deal execution on sponsor-backed opportunities
  • Maintaining internal CRM, databases and other trackers to support calling efforts
  • Preparing presentation materials and participating in marketing meetings with key clients
  • Interacting with senior Cowen team members and clients to ensure timely follow-up to important requests

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree from a leading university
  • 6 months to 2 years experience in investment banking, management consulting, or other finance or adjacent role
  • Ability to comfortably interact with senior clients in a professional setting
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid technical and fundamental skills, including understanding of basics of investment banking and proficiency with Microsoft suite; experience with data sources like Pitchbook, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, and a CRM such as Salesforce / Dealcloud is highly preferred
  • Strong intellectual curiosity
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter with the capacity to work independently and in small teams
