Job Overview

The Equity Research Management Specialist is a new role within Cowen Research Management that will report to and work closely with the Associate Director of Research to support oversight of critical processes and areas of responsibility, including

  • Analyst Vetting;
  • Business Review and Screening Committees;
  • Compliance Coordination;
  • Coverage Planning;
  • Investment Policy Committee;
  • Research Operations, Infrastructure and Administration; and
  • Strategic Initiatives

The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic and collaborative environment, looking to expand their role and grow their contributions over time.  This role will demand a wide breadth of professional versatility, spanning ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ skills and requiring strategic acumen as well as day-to-day engagement in detail-oriented tasks.  Focus areas will also evolve in tandem with the needs of the business.  Experienced candidates interested in making a career change are welcomed to apply, as are front-office professionals seeking a move to a management position.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to engage effectively with a wide range of professionals representing different constituencies and levels of seniority;
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, interest in problem-solving and desire to drive positive outcomes for the firm’s business and culture;
  • Strong organizational skills, work ethic and professional polish;
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with ability to undertake a range of analytical projects and produce top-quality work, including written presentations distributed to large internal and external audiences;
  • Experience in any of: Investment Research (buy-side or sell-side), Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Private Equity, Family Office, Accounting, Finance, Business Development, Consulting or Law (Broker-Dealer, Corporate Finance or M&A preferred);
  • Securities licenses (Series 7/SIE, 24, 87) or willingness to obtain those over time; and
  • CFA or similar accreditation an asset but not required
