Job Description:

Cowen is hiring a Technical Accountant to join the Accounting Team. 

The role reports directly to the Chief Accounting Officer and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Cowen’s challenging technical accounting needs. This role will provide research, support, documentation and advice to the accounting team and upper management regarding a variety of financial services transactions and topics. The candidate should have some varied experience in the following areas: investment banking, capital markets, investment management, financial instruments, revenue recognition, SEC reporting, goodwill, consolidation, and stock compensation. The candidate should have strong research, documentation and communication skills (written and verbal).  The Technical Accountant will work side by side with the accounting team to collaborate and resolve accounting topics in the US and internationally as well as with external auditors. 


  • CPA required
  • 7+ years experience
  • Big 4 accounting firm financial services and/or or accounting policy / technical accounting role at a financial institution preferred
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP with IFRS a plus
