Special Assets Junior Analyst

Cowen is seeking a Special Assets Junior Analyst. Primary responsibilities are to support the Special Assets team members who identify, value and source illiquid and difficult to value assets. The group maintains relationships with buyers and sellers globally who hold esoteric assets. This position will provide administrative, operational and sales support to the team as it continues to grow.


  • Provide comprehensive business support to Special Assets team members
  • General business administration role related to the group’s deals and transactions
  • Gather and consolidate information from multiple sources and prepare spreadsheets with detailed contact information
  • Assist team members with developing research and summaries for distribution internally and externally
  • Draft reports and correspondence with team members
  • Assist with mass email efforts
  • Ongoing surveillance of court dockets and bankruptcy claims registers
  • Coordinate the execution of documents, scan documents and maintain internal electronic document filing system
  • Develop in-depth market and trading knowledge, working side-by-side with team members
  • Help develop and build long-term quality relationships throughout the Cross Assets team and organization

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with business focus preferred
  • Strong Microsoft skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills, including knowledge of spreadsheet, database and word processing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Desire to learn
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and work in a fast paced environment
  • Administrative skills and proven ability to work well on a team
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, demanding environment
