Thomas Stierwalt is a Director in the Technology Investment Banking group at Cowen, where he is focused on providing leading private and public Software companies with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory and financing services. Mr. Stierwalt joined Cowen in 2014 in order to help launch and build the Software Investment Banking practice.
Prior to joining Cowen, Mr. Stierwalt worked in Signal Hill Capital Group’s (now DCS Advisory) Technology Investment Banking group in San Francisco, advising Software clients on M&A and private financings. Prior to Signal Hill, he worked at Headwaters Merchant Bank (now Capstone Headwaters) in San Francisco, where he helped open and build the Technology Investment Banking group, advising Software and Internet clients on M&A and private financings. Mr. Stierwalt began his career in Corporate Finance at Goldman Sachs in New York.
Mr. Stierwalt has advised on transactions with leading Technology companies, including: Alphabet (Google), Alteryx, Appian, Asure Software, AT&T, Carbon Black, Cooking.com, Courion (now SecureAuth), Domo, Fair Isaac (FICO), Harman (now part of Samsung), Intel, Intuit, Invincea, Rapid7, RichRelevance, Rimini Street, Sophos, Sprinklr, Target Corporation, TeleTech, Veeco Instruments, and Zix, among others.
Mr. Stierwalt graduated magna cum laude from the Honors Finance Program at St. Mary’s College of California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Business Administration.
