Matthew Hoffman joined Cowen and Company in February 2006, as a senior research analyst covering the wireless equipment industry. Prior to joining Cowen, he spent a year at Moors & Cabot and six years at SoundView Technology Group/Schwab SoundView, where he was ranked by Institutional Investor as a top 10 analyst in the wireless telecommunications equipment space. Prior to joining SoundView, Mr. Hoffman led Gartner Dataquest's Americas mobile phone/infrastructure research team. Mr. Hoffman began his career in the wireless industry with three years at Ericsson, first leading the company's American Standards global mobile phone market analysis and product research teams, and then later managing marketing for Ericsson's wireless Internet group. Mr. Hoffman holds an MA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Colby Synesael is a managing director and senior research analyst specializing in the telecom and data services industries. Mr. Synesael has been covering the telecom and data services industry as a senior analyst since 2006. Prior to joining Cowen and Company in March 2010, he was a senior vice president for Kaufman Brothers, and before that spent nearly three years in a similar role at Merriman Curhan Ford. From 2001 to January 2006, Mr. Synesael worked at Thomas Weisel Partners as a research associate, spending his last three years covering telecom services. Before joining Thomas Weisel, Mr. Synesael spent a brief time working at Allegiance Telecom. He holds a BS from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

Paul Silverstein is a managing director and senior research analyst and covers data networking and wireline equipment. Prior to joining Cowen and Company in January 2013, Mr. Silverstein was a director in Credit Suisse's equity research department, covering the communications infrastructure industry. Prior to that, he was a senior analyst in equity research at Robertson Stephens and at Needham & Co. Prior to becoming a securities analyst, Mr. Silverstein practiced corporate and securities law as an associate at Weil Gotshal & Manges and at Pryor Cashman Sherman & Flynn. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and a JD from Cornell Law School.
