Senior Advisor

Donald Meltzer is Senior Advisor and Managing Director of Cowen and Company. Prior to joining Cowen in October of 2006, Mr. Meltzer was the Co-Head of Investment Banking at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein from 2004 to 2006 and the Head or Co-Head of Global Mergers and Acquisitions for Credit Suisse First Boston from 2000-2004.

Mr. Meltzer began his investment banking career at First Boston where he spent twenty years serving in a variety of different global senior positions including Head of Healthcare, Head of Energy and Head of General Industrial Banking. He also spent three years in Europe as head of European M&A and Co-Head of European Industry Groups.

Mr. Meltzer graduated from Harvard College in 1979 with an A.B. in History magna cum laude and from New York University Law School in 1984. He practiced corporate law at Cravath, Swaine, & Moore, LLP from 1984 to 1986.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of The Horace Mann School, the Board of Governors of The American Jewish Committee and The Camphill Foundation which is dedicated to community building with children, youth and adults who have disabilities.
