Jonathan Biele
Head of Capital Markets Managing Director
Mr. Biele is the Head of Cowen and Company’s Capital Markets Group which is responsible for the origination and execution of public and private financial transactions in the equity, equity linked and debt markets. Prior to joining Cowen, Jon was a Managing Director in the Life Science Banking Group at Lazard, where he also served as Head of the Equity Capital Markets Group where he managed the growth of the firm’s equity origination capability. Mr. Biele worked with both the Equity Capital Markets and Equity Syndicate Groups at Lehman Brothers focused primarily on Healthcare and Technology in addition to other sectors including Consumer, Financials, Telecom and Defense. Jon served as vice president and syndicate manager at ABN-AmroRothschild and was a syndicate desk member at UBS.
Mr. Biele holds a B.A. from St. Lawrence University.

Charles F. Preusse II
Head of Equity Capital Markets Managing Director charles.preusse@cowen.com
Mr. Preusse is a Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets. His experience includes equity and debt new issuance and strategic advisory for clients in the technology, business services, telecommunications, satellite and aerospace and defense sectors. During his eighteen year career as an investment banker, Mr. Preusse has completed more than one hundred and seventy-five capital raising and advisory transactions. Prior to joining Cowen in 2001, Mr. Preusse was a Director in the Investment Banking Department at Prudential Securities. Mr. Preusse began his career in the Investment Banking Group at Merrill Lynch & Co.
Mr. Preusse received an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College and a B.A. from Columbia College, Columbia University.

Andrew J. Mertz
Head of Syndicate Managing Director
Mr. Mertz is responsible for the execution of all public equity offerings. Mr. Mertz has over 14 years of Capital Markets experience, the last 7 of which he concentrated exclusively on growth-oriented companies. In addition, Mr. Mertz is responsible for the Client Care initiative which focuses on aftermarket support for the Firm’s investment banking clients. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at Robertson Stephens in San Francisco and Bear Stearns in New York.
He holds a M.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University and a B.B.A. in Accounting from Pace University

Robert F. Roden
Head of Leveraged Finance Managing Director
Mr. Roden is Head of Leveraged Finance for Cowen and Company. He joined Cowen from Merriman Curhan Ford & Co., where he was Head of Structured/Leveraged Finance. Previously, he was Co-Head and a founding member of Banc of America Mezzanine Capital (“BAMC”). Mr. Roden joined BAMC in 2000 to assist in the formation of the group and was responsible as a team leader for origination, structuring and execution, documentation and funding for a variety of junior capital securities. Prior to joining BAMC, Mr. Roden was a Partner and Investment Manager with FINOVA Mezzanine Capital, Inc., formerly Sirrom Capital West, Inc., where he focused on investing mezzanine and equity in growth companies primarily in the Western States. While at Sirrom, investing in over 20 diverse companies, Mr. Roden helped build a portfolio in excess of $600 million prior to the sale to FINOVA. Before joining Sirrom Capital West, Inc., Mr. Roden was with CS First Boston’s High Yield Debt Group in New York. Throughout his career, Mr. Roden has invested in and/or raised over a $1 billion of junior capital for a variety of companies.
Mr. Roden received his BA from the University of Connecticut and his M.A. from New York University.

John R. Christiansen
Director john.christiansen@cowen.com Mr. Christiansen is a Director and Head of West Coast Equity Capital Markets for Cowen and Company. He focuses on the origination and execution of public and private equity and equity-linked offerings. Mr. Christiansen joined the firm in May, 2006. Prior to joining Cowen, he worked in Institutional Equities at Morgan Stanley in San Francisco. Previously, Mr. Christiansen was in Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley in Menlo Park from 1999 to 2003. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Christiansen was an Associate in Corporate Finance at Jefferies & Co. in San Francisco from 1997 to 1999, and Mr. Christiansen began his career with Morgan Stanley’s fixed income division in New York in 1994. Mr. Christiansen holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College, magna cum laude & a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University.

Bill Follis
Director
Bill Follis joined Cowen and Company’s Capital Markets Group in 2000 after working in the Debt Capital Markets Group since 1993. Prior to joining Cowen, he worked in the fixed income department at Dean Witter Reynolds. Mr. Follis is responsible the execution of public equity and equity-linked offerings. In addition, he is responsible for trading activity of corporate clients including corporate share repurchase programs and the sale of restricted securities.
Mr. Follis earned his B.B.A. in Marketing from Pace University.
