Grant Miller is Head of Cowen and Company’s Capital Markets group where he is responsible for the origination and execution of PIPEs, registered directs and private equity placements. Mr. Miller has been working in capital markets for over 11 years and has bookrun over 80 transactions across many sectors, including health care, technology, communications, media and industrials. Prior to joining Cowen, Mr. Miller was a managing director at Banc of America where he was responsible for all equity product origination for health care companies. Previously, Mr. Miller worked at both Lehman Brothers where he held a variety of Capital Markets positions including responsibility for all PIPE and registered direct transactions, and PaineWebber where he was a member of the Private Capital group.

Mr. Miller earned a B.A. in Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, and earned a M.B.A, Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia Business School.

Ms. Levenson is a managing director in Cowen and Company's Capital Markets group. Her experience includes more than 20 years of investment banking, including the successful completion of over 50 financing transactions representing more than $3 billion in financing volume.

Ms. Levenson brings to the firm and its clients a demonstrated record of success in the private equity and PIPEs arena. Prior to joining Cowen, Ms. Levenson was a Senior Managing Director in the Strategic Finance Group at Bear Stearns and Head of the firm’s Private Placement Group. In that capacity, she managed all private equity placements for both private and public companies, and assisted in the Strategic Finance Group’s coverage of technology, media and telecommunications companies.

Previously, Ms. Levenson was a Managing Director and Head of the West Coast Private Equity Group at Merrill Lynch, where, as a founding member of the group, she established a private equity placement team focused on technology-related companies. As such, she built a ten-person team that raised over $760 million of private equity capital for companies through pre-IPO growth financings and PIPE transactions.

Ms. Levenson received an A.B. in Philosophy from Dartmouth College, and a joint J.D./M.B.A. from The Law School and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a frequent speaker on private equity-related topics.

Managing Director

Mr. Mertz is responsible for the execution of all public equity offerings. Mr. Mertz has over 14 years of Capital Markets experience, the last 7 of which he concentrated exclusively on growth-oriented companies. In addition, Mr. Mertz is responsible for the Client Care initiative which focuses on aftermarket support for the Firm’s investment banking clients. Prior to joining the firm, he worked at Robertson Stephens in San Francisco and Bear Stearns in New York.

He holds a M.B.A. in Finance from Fordham University and a B.B.A. in Accounting from Pace University
