Analyst Training Program

Analysts in Investment Banking start in late July and spend their first five weeks in intensive training.

  • In the first week, analysts participate in a rigorous accounting program designed to teach the principles of accounting. The class is interactive, with every class member called upon to work through problems.
  • Weeks two and three consist of the principles of corporate finance, including financial statement analysis, valuation, comparables, cost of capital and discounted cash flows. The corporate finance session includes an introduction to modeling.
  • Each analyst is pre-tested to assess his/her level of computer literacy and competency, and assigned to a class based on ability. They also learn effective presentation techniques, advanced Excel and Word, and valuable short cuts for use on the job.
  • Finally, analysts are trained in the use of data vendors and conducting internet research.

Throughout the training, analysts attend evening events where they have a chance to socialize and meet other analysts and officers. These events help forge valuable relationships.

Placement into a particular group takes place after you accept your job offer but before the training program begins.
